Twenties' Ministries

Community for people
in their twenties!

Whether you are finishing up college, new in the work force, or at the beginning stages of starting a family we are eager for your participation.

Please come and join us.

Craig Dunham and Doug Serven, authors of TwentySomeone write:

“Many twentysomethings struggle with finding their place in the church. It doesn’t take long before we start asking questions like, Where do I fit? Who do I connect with? And why does it matter anyway? It matters because as Christians we’ve been called to and placed in the body of Christ. We can’t deny this; the Bible says it. In addition to family and friends, the church is the main place for us to ascertain who we are while we continue to ‘spur one another on toward love and good deeds’ (Hebrews 10:24)” (p. 173).

It would be our honor and pleasure to help you connect with the body of Christ.

FAQ’s

What are Sunday evening gatherings like?

We gather at Robin and David Baker’s home at 6pm and begin our time by sharing a meal together. While we eat we catch up with each other, hear what new things are happening, how things at work are going, etc. The second part of the evening consists of Bible study. We have been making our way through the book of Matthew. We read a short passage and begin discussing what we notice and understand about what is says about Christ and about ourselves. This time looks more like a dialogue and discussion than a time of direct teaching. We typically close with sharing prayer needs and lifting them up to the Lord.

When and where does the group meet?

We meet the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. If a month happens to have 5 Sundays we will meet on the 5th Sunday as well. So in the coming months we will meet May 9th, 23rd, and 30th, June 13th and 27th, July 11th and 25th, August 8th, 22nd, and 29th, September 12th and 26th and October 10th and 24th. We meet at 6pm at Robin and David Baker’s home located at 118 Trace End Drive, Franklin, TN 37069.

Is there a Sunday School class on Sunday mornings that corresponds with this group?

It is not outside the realm of possibility to form a class for the Sunday School hour set aside for this age group, but at present members of the Twenties Bible study attend various adult classes at CPC on Sunday mornings. As a church family it is important to seek to know others, not merely a limited group of people in a large body. The Sunday School hour provides a time for younger adults to get to know and form relationships with others at CPC. The goal of our group is to help connect people of similar ages at Christ Pres but not segregate them entirely from the CPC body of believers and create a huddle of younger adults. If you would like to attend a class you can find members of the Twenties Bible study in various classes including the Armed and Encouraged class led by Bill Delvaux, the Treasures: Discovering Our Riches in Christ: A Study of Ephesians class led by Anderson Spickard, and the From This Day Forward: 1 Samuel class led by John Arndt.

Who are the Twenties?

Well, of course we don’t ask you to show your I.D. at the door to verify that you’re in your twenties. Our aim is people in their twenties or close to it. If you have not yet reached twenty, then chances are this is not the group for you. If you are beyond twenty-something this could be a good fit for you. Several in the group are beyond their twenties and it is great to have them. The Twenties at CPC include students of various levels of the academic world and professionals with careers, married and single, men and women, Nashville natives and people new to the area. We would love to welcome you or someone you know to the group.
