Worship |
“A service of public worship is not merely a gathering of God’s children with each other, but before all else, a meeting of the triune God with His chosen people. God is present in public worship not only by virtue of the Divine omnipresence but, much more intimately, as the faithful covenant Savior. The Lord Jesus Christ said: “Where two ore three are gathered together in My name, there I am in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20)” -Book of Church Order (47-1) |

At Christ Presbyterian Church, we worship as a reformed people; saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, for the glory of God alone. And like the psalmist whose heart was filled with songs to the God of Israel; so are we to lift our praises in worship! Worship does not begin when a service begins, and end when the services ends. It is continual offering to God, in word and deed, for His glory and our benefit. The style of our corporate worship is not of emphasis or importance. Of primary importance is that we worship God “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23). “The Bible teaches that the following are proper elements of the corporate worship service: reading of Holy Scripture, singing, the offering of prayer, the preaching of the Word, the presentation of offerings, confession of faith and observing the Sacraments; and on special occasions taking oaths” (BCO-47-9). As we worship together as one body, it is our prayer that God might be glorified, honored and celebrated for the great and mighty things He has done. |
