SUMMARY:Christ Pres Leadership Development Training
DESCRIPTION:Christ Pres’ Leadership Development Training begins mid-January. This training is required for all elder\, deacon\, and deaconess nominees\, although all adults are welcome to attend! This training cycle will be different from years past in that it will largely be self-guided with video supplements; however\, there will be monthly Saturday morning gathering/lectures (breakfast provided) that the participants will be required to attend. The first gathering will be on January 18 at 8:00 a.m. at the Old Hickory Blvd campus. The Saturday sessions are scheduled as follows\, all at 8:00 a.m.: \n\nJanuary 18\nFebruary 15\nMarch 22\nApril 26\nMay 17\n\nThe required reading will mostly center around The Truths We Confess\, by R.C. Sproul\, and the Presbyterian Church in America’s Book of Church Order. You may want to obtain these materials and get a head start on the reading. \nIf you would like to attend the training\, please sign up here no later than January 10\, 2025.

DESCRIPTION:It is with both sorrow and hope in the Lord that we share the passing of our beloved former interim senior pastor\, Dr. W. Wilson Benton Jr. (1941–2025)\, who entered the presence of his Savior on the morning of January 26 at the age of 83. \nA visitation and service will be held here at Christ Presbyterian Church\, Old Hickory Blvd.\, on Friday afternoon. \n\nService: 1:00-2:00 p.m. – View Service Livestream\nVisitation: 2:00-4:00 p.m.\n\nDr. Benton faithfully served as our interim senior pastor for five consecutive years\, leaving a lasting legacy of wisdom\, compassion\, and Christ-centered leadership in our church community. His decades-long ministry extended beyond Christ Presbyterian Church\, with pastoral service at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland\, MS\, and Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in St. Louis\, MO. An ordained minister since 1966 and a recipient of a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh\, Wilson’s life reflected a deep commitment to the gospel and a genuine love for God’s people. \nWe extend the sympathy of our congregation to his loving wife\, Pam Benton\, his children Louis Benton\, Paige Brown\, and Laura Pearson\, and his treasured grandchildren.
