Singing the Gospel
Too often singing in the church is seen as being of minor importance, as a way to warm up the crowd before the main event of the sermon. But Paul says that singing is vital for getting the Gospel (the word about Christ) to dwell in us (the “you” is plural) richly. He literally says that if you want to be a Gospel-driven church then you must sing. Worship is formative and singing intensifies what we are singing about, whether praise or lament.
