Home Groups
Cultivating Christ-centered community through small group discipleship
Our Home Groups offer a meaningful space for church members at Old Hickory Blvd to live out their faith in community. Meeting regularly in one another’s homes, these small groups are built on prayer, conversation around God’s Word, and genuine care for one another’s lives. The purpose is to help each person grow as a disciple of Christ while building deep relationships rooted in grace and truth. If you're looking to deepen your engagement with the church body, engage more intentionally with Scripture, and find a place to live out what it means to be a Christ-follower, there’s a Home Group ready to welcome you.
Spring groups will launch mid-January and run through mid-May. Sign up for a group here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Home Groups exist for church members to cultivate community through small, in-home gatherings focused on meaningful relationships, prayer, and Scripture-based discussion—helping each member grow in faith as part of the Christ Pres Old Hickory Blvd covenant family.
You can expect to engage in regular prayer as a group, discussion over the current sermon series, and a time of fellowship. Groups are hosted in the homes of church members and are asked to meet at least twice a month, but can meet more frequently if the group desires.
Group commitment is for one semester at a time, giving you the flexibility to continue, step away, or join a new group each term. The Spring semester runs from mid-January to mid-May (sign-ups in November), and the Fall semester runs from August to mid-November (sign-ups in June/July).
This shift is more than just a new name—it’s a thoughtful change in purpose and structure. Here are some key distinctions:
- Semester-Based Rhythm: Home Groups meet in semesters, allowing for shorter commitments and built-in opportunities to reflect, rest, or re-engage. Please note that Home Groups are encouraged to meet in each other’s homes, and are asked not to meet during Sunday morning worship or during Sunday School.
- Membership-Focused: These groups are designed specifically for Christ Pres OHB members—or those actively pursuing membership through CPC101—to strengthen our covenant community.
- Discipleship-Centered: While Connect Groups often had a wide range of goals, Home Groups will prioritize spiritual formation, mutual care, and accountability as we grow together in Christ. Please note that Home Groups should always consider themselves open to accepting a new member as the need arises.
The church is grateful for the ways God has used Connect Groups to foster community and growth, and those who are still engaged in one are absolutely welcome to continue meeting informally. However, all future church support—including promotion, resources, and new member placement—will be directed toward our new Home Groups model. To remain connected to Christ Presbyterian Church's ongoing support and vision for community, we encourage you to consider forming a Home Group.
Absolutely—and we hope you will! Many existing groups will make this transition. When registration opens, you can each sign up and request to stay with your current group. As a Home Group, you'll commit to discussing the sermon series, praying together regularly, and being open to welcoming new members as needed.
Home Groups are built around the shared commitments that come with church membership—things like mutual care, accountability, and being shepherded by our elders and pastors. This shared foundation helps create a trusted environment where people can open up, grow, and walk through life together with confidence.
Focusing on members also allows the church to:
- Provide intentional pastoral care and guidance when needed.
- Ensure hosts feel supported and safe in opening their homes.
- Protect the spiritual and relational health of the group as a whole.
No one is being excluded or asked to leave. If someone isn’t a member yet, we simply encourage them to take a step toward deeper connection—either by going through CPC101 to pursue membership, or by plugging into a community at the church they call home.
If you’re currently leading a group with non-members, we ask that you kindly and prayerfully encourage them toward meaningful commitment—whether that’s with Christ Pres or another local church.
Home Groups are meant to be spaces for committed members to grow together in Christ. They're not designed as outreach groups—but that doesn’t mean you can’t practice hospitality or connection in other ways.
We encourage you to continue opening your home to friends and neighbors, inviting them to church events, or building relationships through our Seasonal Study groups, Sunday School classes, and other informal gatherings. There are many meaningful ways to love people well—Home Groups are just one piece of that larger picture.
