Carlos Portillo
Carlos joined the staff of Christ Presbyterian Church in October 2023 and became a member of the church in 2024, with his wife Sarah, who is also on staff as our Special Needs Coordinator, and their daughter Esther Grace. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies from Bryan College and is pursuing a degree from Westminster Theological Seminary. Carlos’ favorite part of his job is the privilege to get to be a part of our student’s lives. Reflecting on our students, he is humbled and grateful to be in this particular season of their lives. He thinks of C.S. Lewis’ writing that reminds us we’ve never spoken to a “mere mortal,” and thinks of our students in this way as they are interesting, lively, and hilarious young people who the Lord sees and knows and loves. His favorite verse is Lamentations 3:22-27 (ESV):
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him.’ The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
