David Filson
Dr. David Owen Filson has served on staff since 2010, and is now the Interim Senior Pastor for the church and Head of Spiritual Life for Christ Presbyterian Academy. David also serves as President’s Professor of Apologetics and Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, where he completed his PhD in Historical and Theological Studies in 2018. He also holds a BA in Christian Education from Oakland City College and an MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary. David co-chairs the theological examining committee for the Nashville Presbytery of the PCA. His favorite thing about his job is the privilege of walking alongside the flock, especially in times of sorrow, and watching the ministry staff and session grow in their love of Christ. David is married to Diane, and they have two adult children, Lydia and Luke, a wonderful daughter-in-law, Lucy, and a Cocker Spaniel, named Gabby. David loves to collect books, play guitar, lift heavy things, and is becoming a bit of a coffee snob. He looks forward to smoking his pipe with C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien in the new heavens and new earth. His favorite verse is Hebrew 6:19-20:
“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.”
