Leave it Better: Faith, Vocation and the Mission of God

The very first thing God reveals in Scripture about himself is that he is a worker. “In the beginning, God created…” Being made in his image, we, too, are vocational beings. Each vocation-whether volunteer or for hire, whether for profit or not for profit, whether at home or in the marketplace-has calling and dignity attached to it. For this reason, we are most fully alive when we are engaged in creative work that brings new goods, ideas, sights and sounds into the world, or redemptive work that brings restoration and healing to broken people, places and things.
