We will take a break from the Adult Study in Acts to hear a special presentation from Doug Powell on the Shroud of Turin. Join us for dinner beginning at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall (CPA Lower School) with the Adult Study presentation afterward at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Dinner costs $8 per adult\, $5 per child\, and $25 per family; pay at the door. Childcare will be available. \nYou won’t want to miss this insightful night with special guest speaker Doug Powell! Doug is an apologist\, author\, Ruling Elder at Christ Presbyterian\, and graduate of the postgraduate program in Shroud Studies from the Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum. The Shroud of Turin first appeared in Europe in the 1300s and has captivated the imagination of Christians ever since\, defying explanation and generating controversy. Join us as Doug digs into questions such as\, does the cathedral in Oviedo\, Spain have the cloth that was wrapped around Jesus’ head as chronicled in John 20:7? Does any evidence exist to connect it to the Shroud of Turin? And if so\, what implications does this cloth have for the authenticity of the Shroud? \nRegister here.

RITI is a ministry that works alongside churches to host and feed men in the community who find themselves in a situation without a stable home. DESCRIPTION:It is with both sorrow and hope in the Lord that we share the passing of our beloved former interim senior pastor\, Dr. W. Wilson Benton Jr. (1941–2025)\, who entered the presence of his Savior on the morning of January 26 at the age of 83. \nA visitation and service will be held here at Christ Presbyterian Church\, Old Hickory Blvd.\, on Friday afternoon. \n\nService: 1:00-2:00 p.m. – View Service Livestream\nVisitation: 2:00-4:00 p.m.\n\nDr. Benton faithfully served as our interim senior pastor for five consecutive years\, leaving a lasting legacy of wisdom\, compassion\, and Christ-centered leadership in our church community. His decades-long ministry extended beyond Christ Presbyterian Church\, with pastoral service at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland\, MS\, and Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in St. Louis\, MO. An ordained minister since 1966 and a recipient of a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh\, Wilson’s life reflected a deep commitment to the gospel and a genuine love for God’s people. \nWe extend the sympathy of our congregation to his loving wife\, Pam Benton\, his children Louis Benton\, Paige Brown\, and Laura Pearson\, and his treasured grandchildren. DESCRIPTION:Christ Pres’ Leadership Development Training begins mid-January. This training is required for all elder\, deacon\, and deaconess nominees\, although all adults are welcome to attend! This training cycle will be different from years past in that it will largely be self-guided with video supplements; however\, there will be monthly Saturday morning gathering/lectures (breakfast provided) that the participants will be required to attend. The first gathering will be on January 18 at 8:00 a.m. at the Old Hickory Blvd campus. The Saturday sessions are scheduled as follows\, all at 8:00 a.m.: \n\nJanuary 18\nFebruary 15\nMarch 22\nApril 26\nMay 17\n\nThe required reading will mostly center around The Truths We Confess\, by R.C. Sproul\, and the Presbyterian Church in America’s Book of Church Order. SUMMARY:Lessons & Carols – Old Hickory Blvd (3 & 5 p.m.)
DESCRIPTION:Come\, as we celebrate the birth of our Savior\, Jesus Christ with a special\, candlelight service on Christmas Eve at Old Hickory Blvd. “Lessons and Carols” is a traditional service celebrated by churches throughout time and across the globe. It began in the late 1800s in the Cathedral of Turo in the UK\, and was later performed regularly at Kings College in Cambridge beginning in 1918. There are seven lessons from Scripture\, leading us from Isaiah’s prophecy of the Messiah’s birth to the annunciation to the visit of the magi. Carols are sung by the congregation in response to each lesson. \nWATCH HERE \n3:00 p.m. Service \n\nOur friends with special needs and their families can enjoy worship with buddy support from the Window Room (livestream TV available). DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual Churchwide Tailgate and Turkey Bowl! We’ll have a time of food and fellowship after the Learning Group hour from 11:30 a.m. until we run out of food. The entire church is invited to potluck-style tailgate on the Breezeway with BBQ and burgers provided. Once you’ve registered below\, families with last names A-N are encouraged to bring a side dish and last names O-Z are encouraged to bring a dessert. \nTurkey Bowl MMXXIV will be held on the CPA Soccer Field with games beginning around 12:30 p.m. and ending by 2:30. Everyone from 4th Grade to 12th grade\, college\, young adults\, and anyone else willing to play\, is invited to join a team for this flag football tournament! Teams will be mixed ages with a focus on fun and safety.
